An email submission from Alex:

Hi,

I came across your site a few days ago and just snapped a black soldier fly inside our house. I've been trying to encourage them to oviposit in a scraps bin inside our chicken run and have had some success with self harvesting into the chicken run.

Here's a photo of the adult...

Regards,
Alex

You're on the map (link). Coordinates from Google for Whakatane were used. Elevation data source: SRTM1 via http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/elevation

We're also interested in any future seasonal data you can provide. The flies are most active in warm weather but we would like to get more definite data on their active season. Dates of first sighting in the spring and last in the fall would be ideal and can be posted here.
