Post 6 Gallon Bucket
Another version of a 6 Gallon Bucket.
It works well enough, and the drain has given me no problems.
Drawings are provided for both metric and imperial units.

very nice,. how's its performance? is it comparable to the commercialize biopod in terms of number of BSF pupae being harvested?

This was inspired by Jerry’s DIY bucket composter, and for the same reason, ie. an inexpensive, small scale system to learn about BSF behaviour. For that purpose, it works well. If you are looking for volume and capacity, look for something bigger. We are not competing in that department ;)

PeteB, as you know I haven't been active on the forum, but after reviewing this thread I would like to thank you for expanding on my bucket design. I love what you've done with it.

Hello.. I wonder how the Strainer is working for you..
before i saw this.. i hadconsidered using steel wool as a pre filter.. they may not want to chew threw..
but this looks very easy..

did it ever clog up for you..

Thanks and very good design..
Debra

The strainer worked well for me. However, I need a bigger bin these days, and I haven't used it for a while.
I've come to realize it works because most of the water seeps through under the wire.
It drains, even when the screen is blocked off. Before you cut a steel strainer, maybe you could try this:-
