 My homemade BSF bucket
I first saw Jerry's web site and originally was going to make his version, but then I came across a broken shopvac and thought ............ why not, it's the right shape and size. So I took that and a few other broken or discarded items and this is what I have come up w/. Since these photos were taken I had a little input from Jerry and have added more velcro around the vent openings, and have added a velcro strip vertically attatching the funnel to the side of the bucket, so if needed it can be positioned high on the bucket wall. http://www.backyardchickens.com/web/vie ... -bsf-larva

Extra points for re-purposing something that would otherwise be tossed Keep us posted on how it works out.

 Re: My homemade BSF bucket
The velcro on the sides of the bucket under the vents are to keep the larva from climbing up the walls and out the vent slots.
The velcro not pictured that I stated I secured the funnel w/ is to keep the funnel up against the wall and be able to raise and lower as the compost level changes.

 Re: My homemade BSF bucket
Which side of the velcro you use? The soft or the rough side?

 Re: My homemade BSF bucket
I used the rough side just to be sure. I also used the one's w/ the industrial strength sticky, and boy do they mean it. You just get one shot at placement!!!!!!
