Post Bio-composter in developing countries?
Hi,
I saw on the site that the biopod is especially ment for small scale use like e.g. feeding your chicken at home. I was wondering, can the biopods be used in developing countries (e.g Colombia)? How much larvae can a biopod produce? Do they produce enough to feed some to livestock every day? Is it possible to build bigger DIY bioconversion units by hand using simple material?

Thank you for your time and trouble,

Sincerely

A student wandering the internet

Yes there's no reason that BSF couldn't be cultured anywhere within their normal range. They are a subtropical fly but are found in temperate climates too. See our Black Soldier Fly Mapping Project (link) for reported locations.

Production depends on what the feedstock is but generally a bin the size of a biopod can produce thousands of larvae daily.

Yes and there are several examples in this section of the forums.
