 Crawl-off issues
I have my Biopod II all set up, and seems to have a thriving colony of several thousand (I am guessing) BSF larvae eagerly eating anything I throw their way. After about a week of this feeding frenzy, I was expecting a decent amount of crawl-offs. However, I have been getting nothing...OK, once in a while, I will have one or two or three in the collection bucket, but that is it.
What might the issue be? We are having a big heat wave in Virginia right now (high of 103 today)...could the excessive heat have something to do with it? Thanks for any input.

 Re: Crawl-off issues
If you're not seeing die off from the heat I wouldn't worry to much. It may just be a matter of waiting a bit more for the larvae to mature.
Since your question is cultivation related I've moved your post to that forum.

 Re: Crawl-off issues
Thanks! As it turns out, I did just need a little more patience: within a few days, I was seeing prety good (though inconsistent) crawl-off....
But....the mature larvae are not just crawling into the collection container: they are crawling up the sides and off the edges of my Biopod II. You can see their "tracks" all over the inside of the bin. I have been putting buckets all around the bin to catch the ones that choose to not use the appointed ramp. This morning, for instance, I had a few hundred crawl-off, but only about half of those went up the ramp into the container.
Any ideas on how this can be fixed? Is the environment perhaps too moist, which gives them the ability to climb straight up the sides?
