LEP backs Cambs food waste business (link)

"Entomics Biosystems plans to convert food waste into three sustainable fuels for plans, animals and vehicles. It also wants to reduce the amount of food going into landfills.

To achieve this, the business plans to use the Black Soldier Fly, which has the ability to efficiently convert organic waste into fats and proteins inside their bodies. These compounds can then be refined into three high value products – animal feed, biodiesel and organic fertiliser."

It is amazing that all this can be achieved with food waste and an insect

£900k for start-up using insects to feed salmon
http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/busines ... s-13431051

"Insect protein could be used to feed salmon after a Cambridge company was awarded a £900,000 government grant to further its work.

Entomics Biosystems will work with the University of Stirling and the University of Reading to investigate the effectiveness of insect-derived feeds for farmed salmon. Entomics and its partners will conduct industrial research to improve and optimise the company's existing bioprocessing platform."
