Post BSF-Continuous reproduction
I have everything set up and getting larvae droping into a container. It has been about 3 weeks. I have what might sound like a dumb question-I would like some of the larvae to mature to BSF's and lay eggs, so what type of exit from the drop container do I need? I temporarily put in a short section of 3/4 pvc through a small bucket and am hoping that the BSF will leave through the opening. Will this work?? I am exploring you web to get an answer. Thanks for your help.

Dave welcome to our forum :) If you'd like you can introduce yourself here (link). We would welcome another addition to our Black Soldier Fly Mapping Project (link). To report a wild population of BSF see the 'Range and Identification' section (link) for instructions.

Getting only some to exit your collection container might be a problem as most likely most of them will use whatever method you provide. As a temporary measure you could mist the walls of the container which allows the larvae to climb vertical surfaces until the water evaporates.

Have you thought of just doing it manually?

It would be great if you could give some details of your system and/or post some pictures.
