OMG! :o I found a place that sells them here in the Pacific Northwest!

$1.25/dozen or $1/dozen for cash.

House of Reptiles and Venomous Reptile Museum
11507 SW Pacific Hwy, Portland, OR ‎(actually Tigard, I think)
(503) 722-1992 ‎
house-of-reptiles.com

S. from Portland: Just west of I-5 from Exit 294, it puts you right onto SW Pacific Hwy, about 1/4 mile on the right, just past the vet clinic.

BelgianPup get the smallest size you possibly can! The immature larvae are more effective as an attractant than the larger ones plus the smaller ones will live in your bin longer and have a longer useful life as attractors! :)

Thanks Borealwormer, for list of BSF sources - especially local pet stores for food - I'll be going today. Haven't checked my bin b/c out of town for Easter.

How many larva do you think I need to devour dead worms in bin?

Thanks & have a good day. C

C I think you'd need more than you'd want to buy at a pet store where they can cost around a dime a piece. If you'd like to use them as a seed to get started in the hopes they attract other BSF to lay their eggs then I'd suggest getting a hundred or more.

See the Attracting black soldier flies-the basics (link) topic. I'm not sure how well the smell of dead worms will act as an attractant for BSF and I suspect it might attract other vermin as well.

This store appears to be closed, and the website link leads to a scammy alert about viruses with pop ups and everything.
