Post Raising BSFL on grains.
Hi guys. I have been raising bsfl for the last 2 years and after trying to raise them on grains about 6 months ago I am experiencing repeated colony collapses. I don't have ready access to fruit and veg so have to resort to grains. After about 12 colony collapses I know believe the problem is mold and bacteria in the grains. The problem correlates to moisture content of the grain. Once the die off starts it takes about 3 days to wipe out the colony. This is not a "mite" problem. I can now intentionally induce the problem be wetting down the whole surface of the grow pod. Continuous moisture on the surface obviously allows the bacteria to replicate at a great rate. Is there any body else on this forum who has experienced the same whilst trying to raise bsfl with grains?

Why not raise them on food waste? Free from restaurants or cafes and grocery stores.

There have been studies done on various substrates, they do well on food with a variety of nutrients.
