Post Keeping roaches out of my bio-composter
This morning I found 4 or 5 roaches (palmetto bugs) in the collector jar. I am assuming that they eat the larvae but don't know for sure. So, 1)do they eat the larvae and 2) if so, how do I keep them out of both the composter and the collecting jar? Thanks.

Hi capnslappy. Sorry for the long delay in answering your question.

I don't get a large number of roaches in my composters, but they show up occasionally. I doubt you can prevent this from happening, and I don't think they'll eat live larvae. My impression is that they aren't in the collection canister because they're targeting mature larvae, I think they simply get trapped in it the same as with the BSF larvae.
