Post How To Add Videos and Pictures To Your Posts
The forum software can be a little confusing for those wanting to include pictures or youtube videos. This topic will provide some basic instructions that will hopefully be helpful.

Post Re: How To Add Videos and Pictures To Your Posts
If you have a youtube video that you would like to show in your post first you'll need information from the URL of the video. Depending on how you get the URL it may look like any of the following

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kjNvE5IOdw&feature=player_embedded

You will need only the video ID (highlighted in yellow in the examples above) and * NOT * the entire URL.

You can find the URL at the top of your browser when viewing the YouTube video page or by using the 'Share' button on the page as shown below.

Once you have the video ID enter it in your post as shown below.

So the text below results in the video showing in this post. Note that center tags were added but are not required.

Code:
[center][youtube]-kjNvE5IOdw[/youtube][/center]

Vimeo Videos

The procedure for Vimeo is much the same except, of course, use the Vimeo tags.

You can find the URL at the top of your browser when viewing the Vimeo video page

You will need only the video ID (highlighted in yellow in the example above) and * NOT * the entire URL.

So the text below results in the video showing in this post. Note that center tags were added but are not required.

Code:
[center][vimeo]116609301[/vimeo][/center]

You can now upload images directly in your forum post by attaching the image files (link). Please do not post huge image files. A good width to aim for is under 1000 pixels and Tarvus has a good tip for easy resizing of images "I use Microsoft Paint. You probably have that on your PC already. Just open the pic in Paint, click the resize button and you can resize by percentage or by a specific pixel size. Quick and simple! 8-) " (link).

A tip from Jerry

... you can make attached images appear anywhere in a post by using the "Place inline" option directly under the lower left hand corner of the text editing box. Just put the cursor where you want the image and click "Place inline".

If you wish you can also post images using a url from a third party image host such as PhotoBucket, Image Shack, etc.

Use the Img button and insert the URL as shown below:

Code:
[img]insert URL here[/img]

To display photobucket pictures in your posts simply copy the IMG code and paste it directly into the post.
