Post dealing with a bucket of gloppy grubs
I'm still catching up to the wisdom of not overfeeding the grubs. I mean, a mass of writhing grubs amidst a little food does not allow house flies to get involved. But I still make mistakes like when I just thought, I'll dump this load of grubs into my kitchen food compost bucket and see what happens. What happened is that it got all gooey and house flies got inside somehow, and now I have a few gallons of a mix of glop, BSFL and HFL.

I don't want to create another cloud of BHF, and I don't want to throw away 3000 BSFL.

Any suggestions on how to process the bucket, save the BSFL but somehow get rid of of the BHFL?

I know the horse will have long since bolted, but the answer would have been to dry it out. Add peat moss, coffee grounds, loose dirt - anything that will absorb the moisture. Once you have it to the consistency of breadcrumbs you're good and the soldier flies will be happy.
